ක්‍රි. (උප+නි √ භු. පාපණෙ, පැමිණවීමෙහි +ය+ති) පමුණුවනු ලබයි. ගෙනයනුලබයි, “උපනීයති ජීවිත මප්පමායු ජරූපනීතස්ස නසන්ති තාණා.” (පි. 190)
